Hockey Night in Canada

Hockey is an amazing sport. I’m glad that it’s so popular in Canada. You can play with an organized team, drop in at your local arena, or even clean off some ice to play on a frozen lake. Since Canada gets so cold in the winter, you can play just about anywhere. When it gets warmer, and the ice begins to melt, you can still go to your local rink or even play in the streets. Who’s your favorite team? Do you watch every game of the year? Canada only has a handful of teams, but they always seem to play well during the regular season. My two favorite teams are the Vancouver Canucks and the Montreal Canadians. I’ve watched the teams play live and have even seen them at practice. I find it much more exciting to play the game than watch it. Hockey is great in Canada, but if you have traveled to another country, you probably won’t hear about it as much. It’ll be hard to find a local bar or satellite that is highlighting all of games you would want to watch.

Hockey can be fun for some people who don’t even play. There are lots of fantasy hockey leagues where you can pick your players to see if you get the most points. Some play for money and prizes. If you really know the players, you can really win a lot of stuff.

One thing I will never forget about hockey in Canada is the riot after the Vancouver Canucks lost in the Stanley Cup finals in 1994. If you haven’t heard about it, try searching for it.
